land rover: the Grizzly Torque

Anthill Films was approached by Toronto production studio Wonder Screen to film the present-day footage of Grizzly Torque, a branded story commissioned by Land Rover Canada.

Sixty-one years ago, artist Robert Bateman and ecologist Bristol Foster drove their custom built, ambulance-bodied Land Rover more than 60,000 kilometres around the world, crossing four continents and 19 countries.

The two Canadians look back on the adventure (as Bateman put it) "one of the greatest senses of freedom I think we've ever had." This was a central theme that we adhered to while capturing the interviews and the driving footage near Bateman's home on Saltspring Island, BC.

Edited and produced by Wonder Screen, the video combines Anthill's handheld and aerial shots with the 60-year-old film footage from the journey, as captured by Foster himself.
