I find it amazing how much downhill racing has progressed and flourished over the past 10 years – especially in the women’s field. What used to be a male-driven sport, is now enjoyed by a variety of people across the board. Womens’ riding has developed into a hardworking, inspirational group of girls who are constantly progressing at an alarming rate.
We created this video to capture Red Bull's ultimate one-day adventure race, with help from Alterna Films. It was a challenge to cover the three stages of the 45km race all over the North Shore's mountains, trails and rivers… and the 35mm of rain that fell throughout the day didn't make things any easier.
Thomas Vanderham knows what it feels like to defy gravity.

Anthill traveled to Maui this spring with Trek’s C3 team. It was a bit of deja-vu for Anthill cinematographer Darcy Wittenburg, photographer Sterling Lorence and rider Andrew Shandro. Seven years ago they visited some of the same lines for the first shoot of the Collective.
